Heavy shelling in 3 Sectors

JAMMU, Mar 3: Pakistan army tonight resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing at Balakote sector in Poonch district and Manjakote and Rajdhani in Rajouri district, targeting civilian population with long range mortars and medium and automatic weapons.
Pakistan violated ceasefire in the three sectors of twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch at around 11 pm targeting forward posts of Army and BSF and civilian areas using long range mortar shells.
“Firing and shelling was very intense,” sources said, adding that there were no immediate reports of casualties on the Indian side as people were inside their houses when the shelling started tonight. However, some houses were reported to have been damaged in Manjakote and Rajdhani areas of Rajouri district.
Indian Army was retaliating Pakistani shelling very effectively to silence the enemy guns, sources said.
Soon after mortar shelling started, civil administration sounded medical emergency in the hospitals of the areas, hit by mortar shelling. Doctors, para-medical staff and ambulances were put on alert to evacuate and treat any shelling victims.
Pakistan has been resorting to ceasefire violations in Nowshera, Sunderbani and Manjakote sectors of Rajouri, Mendhar, Mankote and Balakote in Poonch and Khour in Jammu during the past few days. Five Pakistan army personnel have been killed during last three days in retaliatory shelling by the Indian side.
