Heavy Pak firing in KG sector again

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 18: Pakistan Army resorted to heavy firing on forward Indian positions, violating ceasefire once again, at Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district last night. An infiltration attempt by the militants under the cover of firing has not been ruled out.
There has been a spurt in firing by Pakistan Army and ceasefire violations on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district during past few days, official sources said, adding that forces across the LoC were desperate to push militants into the Indian territory and repeated firing incidents were aimed at intrusions.
Pakistan Army started firing at forward Indian positions of Dogra, Chajjaman, Kirpan, Ghora and Kranti at 8 pm from their posts of Daaku, Roza, Kaif and Bhattan. Initially, Pakistan Army used small arms firing but later extended it to medium and heavy fire arms. At some places, Pakistani troops also fired rockets.
Initially, Indian side exercised restraint but later gave caliber response to ensure that the militants trying to infiltrate under the cover of Pakistani firing didn’t manage to sneak in. Though Army sources declined to comment on infiltration attempt, reliable sources said a group of 5 to 7 militants did try to intrude into Indian territory under the cover of firing but their attempt was thwarted by the troops.
Firing from Pakistan side continued till 11.45 pm, sources said, adding that Army conducted searches all along the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector but there were no traces of militants.
The infiltration attempt, if any, was foiled, sources said, adding that troops were maintaining high alert on the LoC in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch to guard against any intrusion bid by the militants from across the LoC.
As reported, a number of militants have been camping across the LoC awaiting an opportunity to enter into this side but the alert troops have thwarted their all designs.
Pakistan has violated the ceasefire 18 times in the past nearly one-and—a-half month.
On September 10, Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire by firing RPGs and opening indiscriminate small arms firing on Indian posts in Nangi-Tikri foward areas along LoC in Poonch sector.
