Heartfelt tribute paid to Pulwama martyrs

JAMMU, Feb 14: Several political/social organizations as well as educational institutions today paid tribute to the 40 CRPF brave hearts who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Pulwama on this day, five years ago.
The 76th Battalion CRPF today organised ‘Shradhanjali’ programme to pay tribute to its soldiers who attained martyrdom in Pulwama attack. Under the guidance of T H Khan, Commandant, the officers and jawans paid rich tribute to the martyrs including five brave soldiers of the Battalion namely Shaheed HC/GD Naseer Ahmed, Shaheed, HC/DVR Jaimal Singh, Shaheed CTGD Rohtash Lamba, Shaheed CT/GD Sukhjinder and Shaheed CT/BUG Tilak Raj. During the programme, Mahinder Singh (Second in Command), Rajesh Kumar Yadav (Second in Command), Girish Chandra Singh Sontiyal, Parveen Kumar, Assistant Commandant and other subordinate officers/personnel of 76 Battalion were present.
BJP State president, Ravinder Raina today released ‘Pulwama,’ a short film dedicated to paying tribute to the CRPF martyrs of the Pulwama attack in 2019. The film, directed and produced by renowned actress and director Neha Lahotra from Jammu, revolves around the story of a newly wedded couple. The CRPF Jawan in the convoy heading towards Kashmir was attacked in 2019 while his wife was planning to celebrate their first Valentine’s Day on February 14. Ravinder Raina expressed his condolences to the Martyrs stating, “This film has reminded us about the barbaric attack on our CRPF Jawans by Pakistan sponsored terror organization. We pay our sincere tribute to the soldiers and assured their families that the entire country is standing with them.”
State BJP vice president and state convenor of Beneficiary Sampark Abhiyan, Sham Lal Sharma also paid tribute at Pulwama Memorial. Flowers were placed at the spot of unfortunate incident in honour of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our nation. BJP national executive member, Bilal Parey; State spokesperson, Altaf Thakur and District president Pulwama, Latif Ahmed Bhat were also present on the occasion.
The district Jammu unit of BJP led by its president Parmod Kapahi also paid tribute to the CRPF martyrs. Also, Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha activists led by district president Jammu North Rajat Singh Manhas took out a candle march in Paloura area to pay homage to the martyrs.
Shiv Sena J&K unit paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of Pulwama attack in a program organized at the party office in Lower Roop Nagar, Jammu.  The present state leaders including Chief Manish Sahni paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs. Thereafter, Shiv Sainiks holding placards with slogans displaying “Return of PoK is the true tribute to the martyrs” burnt effigies of terrorists operating in the Union Territory.
In a function organized by Rajiv Mahajan (chairman of Freedom Fighters Memorial Association), floral and candlelight tribute were paid to the martyrs by showering petals and lighting. Two-minute silence was also observed in the honour of the martyrs. Speaking on the occasion, RC Puri (vice chairman) said that our jawans were very much prepared to counter the terrorist activities by Pakistan and we the whole “Nation” were very much proud of Jawans.
Shiv Sena Hindustan Youth Wing activists led by its president Ganesh Choudhary also paid floral tribute to the CRPF personnel who lost their lives in a suicide attack on their convoy in Pulwama. Remembering valorous heroes, Choudhary said we will never forget their supreme sacrifice. Their courage motivates us to build a strong and developed India, he added.
Central University of Jammu solemnly observed Pulwama Balidan Diwas, commemorating the supreme sacrifice of our brave hearts who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The event, held under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain, was a poignant tribute to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack. Prof Jain, along with faculty members, staff, and students, paid solemn floral tribute to the martyrs, honoring their indomitable courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to the nation.
The Department of Botany and Zoology, School of Sciences, Cluster University of Jammu paid homage to the 40 CRPF personnel who lost their lives in the terror attack in Pulwama. Coordinator Botany, CLUJ, Prof Sugandha Mahajan, Dr Harpreet Bhatia, teaching and non-teaching staff and students of both the departments remembered the ultimate sacrifice of the nation’s brave hearts by lighting candles and showering flowers. Besides, two minutes silence was observed.
In a function organized at Khour tehsil of Jammu, Narinder Singh Bhau, along with the steadfast residents of Khour and ex-servicemen, gathered to pay heartfelt tribute to the Pulwama. The solemn event was marked with a powerful display of respect and remembrance as they honored the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in the face of adversity.
