Health Ministry awards Anantnag health facility for highest NCD screening

SRINAGAR, Dec 13: A Sub-Centre in South Kashmir Anantnag’s Sheikh Pora has been awarded as the best performing healthcare facility in the category of Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening in the Health Block Shangus by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Govt of India.
The award has come as recognition to the services of the grass-root workers such as ASHAs, ANM workers along with other concerned officials who are working for providing better healthcare facilities to people particularly to the pregnant women in the block in the shape of proper screenings.
The feat has come on the occasion of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day which is observed on December 13. The Sub-Centre which is also known as Health and Wellness Centre at Sheikh Pora has been acknowledged to have carried out a highest number of NCD screenings and has been conferred with the second prize in the same category at a function that has been held in New Delhi.
The officials said that the ground workers carry out a wide range of works in the field particularly concerning pregnant women and during that they have been also able to carry out the highest number of NCD Screenings which has been acknowledged by the Government of India.
“We have to update the data regularly on a dedicated portal which is there; the portal has the data centre with the ministry which regularly monitors the work done,” Dr Ashfaq Dar, Block Medical Officer (BMO) told Excelsior.
He said that the highest numbers of the screenings carried out by the healthcare workers associated with the Sub-Centre were recognized by the Ministry for which the award has been conferred. “It is the only Health and Wellness centre across the UT which has been recognised for the feat on the UHC Day,” he said.
In this regard, a letter was already shot to the concerned health officials in the district wherein they were informed that HWC-Sheikh Pora in Block Shangus will be awarded for being one of the best performers concerning the NDC screening.
The Mission Director National Health Mission, J&K had directed the CMO Anantnag to depute Masrat Manzoor, Vaheeda Akhtar and Kulsuma Akhtar of Sub Centre Sheikh Pora to attend the award function held at Hotel Ashoka, New Delhi. As per the communication of the NHM, has qualified the criteria for the best performing HWC-SC in the Union Territory of J&K.
The officials said that the award is going to boost the morale of the healthcare workers who are working tirelessly particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
