UDHAMPUR, Dec 13: Govt Model Higher Secondary School Udhampur has been renamed as Shaheed Inspector Kamal Singh Model Higher Secondary School.
Kamal Singh was an alumnus of the school and attained martyrdom while bravely fighting with terrorist in Babateng, Baramulla on 12-03-2001.
On this occasion, the family of Martyr Insp Kamal Singh, Chairman District Development Council Udhampur Lal Chand Bhagat, ADGP Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Suleman Choudhary, Municipal Council, Civil Society Members, Officers from Police Department and Civil administration unveiled the plaque and board of the newly named school in Udhampur.
While speaking on the occasion, son of the martyr appreciated the efforts of the Govt for recognising the sacrifices and also thanked the Police department for always standing by his family, even in the absence of his father.
ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh paid glowing tributes on the occasion and also threw light on the saga of sacrifice offered by JKP for upholding and safeguarding the nation during the testing times. He said JKP will always remain indebted to all such fallen heroes & will stand by their families.
Suleman Choudhary spoke on the gallant act of the martyr and paid rich tributes. DDC Chairperson Lal Chand Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib, Chairman MC, Yogeshwar Gupta, Principal GHSS Udhampur Sunil Sharma also spoke on the occasion and paid rich tributes to the martyrs and hoped that the youth of today find inspiration in heroes like Shaheed Insp Kamal Singh.
SSP Udhampur, Sargun Shukla, on this occasion, gave a pen picture of the martyr, his achievements and the story of his martyrdom and also a brief on this school that has six martyrs as its alumni.
While concluding the function, Addl SP Udhampur Anwar- Ul- Haq presented vote of thanks. Amit Sharma conducted the proceedings during the programme.
