Sir,
After neutralisation of the Article 370 and abrogation of 35A, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi described Government employees of the erstwhile state of J&K to be the major beneficiaries. One of the main benefits was counted as the Health Insurance cover to the employees and their families. It had generated a lot of hope among these employees. But a lot of time has elapsed but no headway has been made on this count.
It will not be out of place to mention that it was Mehbooba Mufti Government followed by Governor N N Vohra who had taken the issue of health insurance of the employees. The prolonged process had culminated in bringing the employees under medical insurance cover against premium from September 18 for a year with agreement with the concerned Insurance agency for three years under terms and conditions. Unfortunately Governor Satya Pal Malik scrapped the agreement alleging corruption and deviation from the set procedure without making any alternate arrangement. The Governor administration failed to identify the culprits not to speak of fixing responsibility and bringing them to justice. The Governor’s decision raised many eyebrows as it was alleged that the booty had not reached the desired destination. Even the employees had to forfeit the instalment they had deposited without taking any benefit.
To conclude, Lt. Governor Administration shall take cognisance of the issue and initiate action at the earliest to bring the employees under health insurance cover promised by no less than Prime Minister.
