BENGALURU, May 3: Karnataka Police have intensified their legal pursuit against former State Minister and JDS leader HD Revanna, by filing a second FIR in connection with the ”obscene video” case.
This latest FIR, lodged at the KR Nagar police station in Mysuru, invokes various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act. The filing of the FIR comes at a crucial juncture, just hours before the scheduled hearing of Revanna’s anticipatory bail plea in the Special Court for People’s Representatives here on Friday.
At the core of the legal imbroglio is a case of sexual harassment implicating Revanna and his son, Prajwal Revanna, the sitting MP and candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. The allegations stem from a complaint filed by a woman who previously worked in their household, alleging sexual assault and criminal intimidation. Adding to the complexity of the situation, Revanna skipped a summons to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 2 for questioning, further complicating the legal landscape for the accused. Prajwal’s involvement in the case has garnered significant public attention, given his lineage as the grandson of party supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken proactive steps, writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the Union government to revoke Prajwal’s diplomatic passport and ensure his return via diplomatic and police channels. (UNI)
