Srinagar, June 6: High Court today sought status report with regard to formulation of Master Plan for the Srinagar City by next date.
The Division Bench of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice D S Thakur while hearing PIL on illegal structures raised in violation of building permission laws directed the Chief Town Planner to submit the status report with regard to formulation of revised Master Plan by next date of hearing.
Court while passing the direction to CTP Kashmir, put hope on him that he would finalize the formulation of MP for Srinagar city and would submit its report to the Court by next date fixed in the case.
It is mentioned here that huge number of structures including complexes, Shopping Malls etc were raised across the State which have been raised in violation of building permission and Master Plan and court after considering the matter in September 2013 directed for sealing of all these structures.
Today court reiterated that CTP previously had undertaken for progress of Master Plan for the city but till date there seems to be no progress on the issue. State counsel sought four weeks time for the progress in preparing of Master Plan which the court granted to him and emphasized on him to do the needful as soon as possible.
The sealing of these structures was passed by the Division Bench in PIL filed on account of public concern about large scale violations of various Acts and Building Laws prepared for planned development of Srinagar city.
The State Government has come up with a policy to regulate all illegal and unauthorized construction of buildings and structures in summer and winter capitals of the State as well as Katra.
A survey conducted by the teams constituted by Government in 2014 reported 5500 violations in Srinagar, 4131 in Jammu and 58 in Katra respectively.
