SRINAGAR, July 24: High Court has sought Action Taken Report against those Government employees who were found involved in CET-2013 paper scam and also directed the Crime Branch to hone up the machinery to arrest the left out absconders.
The Division Bench Comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Masoodi recorded its displeasure over the performance of Crime Branch in arresting the left out absconders.
The bench observed: “We record our displeasure with regard to the method adopted towards the arrest which has hampered the trial and investigation”.
After previous court direction CB filed detailed status report regarding the scam and court has been apprised that out of left out 17 absconders 10 have been arrested and 7 are still at large and among them 5 are students and 2 are parents.
After court’s displeasure Advocate General of the State submitted before the bench that the arrest of these 7 absconders shall be affected at an earliest especially within 2 weeks.
The court has also directed filing of Action Taken Report (ATR) against those Government employees (parents) who have helped their wards in buying the question papers.
The ATR by the court was sought by or before next date after perusal of various status reports by various departments including Education and Forest where in it was stated that action has been taken against their employees who are involved in the Paper Scam.
Meanwhile, court has been informed that with regard to CET-2012 about 29 candidates have been found who have passed the examination by deceitful manner and investigation in this record is going on.
In compliance of earlier direction by the court, the Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar submitted its progress report in sealed cover regarding the progress of trial of those against whom challan has been produced by CB. Court sought further progress report by him regarding the trial by next date.
