JAMMU, Aug 29: In a petition filed by Abdul Rehman, the father of Manzoor Ahmed Shan who was killed in firing on July 18, 2013 at Gool seeking investigation by CBI / Crime Branch, the High Court today directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to look into the investigation being carried out in the case.
In the petition, it has submitted that Manzoor Ahmed Shan, who was serving as a Lecturer in Government Higher Secondary School Thatharka, was shot dead by Mohd Afzal Wani, Incharge Police Post Sangaldan, who sprayed bullets on the innocent people protesting/ demonstrating peacefully in Shaddi Dharam Jamlan which falls in tehsil Gool of district Ramban.
It was submitted by the counsel for the petitioner that statements of eye-witnesses have not been recorded by the investigating agency for the reason that it was hand in glove with the accused and wanted to save him.
After hearing Advocate Aseem Sawhney appearing for the petitioner, Justice Virender Singh directed Director General of Police to look into the investigation carried out in the present case till date. “If he finds that DySP Parbeet Singh Parihar, the Incharge of SIT, is intentionally delaying the investigation or not recording the statements of eye-witnesses already produced before him by the petitioner without any cogent reasons, he shall take a serious note of the fact and may change the hands of the investigation in order to allay all the doubts from the mind of the petitioner with regard to investigation as projected”, the High Court said.
