MENDHAR, Mar 24: The police has booked a Head Constable of J&K Police and his two other family members for `assault’ on a woman at Chhajla in tehsil Mendhar.
Reports said one Azam Bi (35), wife of Nissar Ahmed, resident of Chhajla was being chased on a bike by HC Muktiar Ahmed of the same area when she was returning to her home. She had gone to Poonch for Medical check up last evening and returning home in a Tata Sumo. At Chajjla when the lady boarded off the vehicle and was moving towards her home, she was allegedly intercepted by the cop with bad intensions. The woman raised alarm and also started abusing her. As many people of the area gathered and accused turned offensive. The people accused the cop of excesses on women who had injured in the process. The family members of Constable also joined and this led to a verbal clash there.
Later, the irate villagers blocked the road and started protest. Later, police party from Mendhar reached there. The lady was removed to hospital and later referred to Rajouri District Hospital. The police registered a case FIR No. 35/ 2013 against the cop and his two family members in this regard. Further investigation was in progress.
