This is in reference to the news item ‘Show courage in checking hate speeches’ DE Apr 30′.
The country is passing through troubled times. There is insurgency in some parts of the country. Militancy is existing somewhere else. The regional and religious notions are gaining ground. This situation has arisen largely due to parchoial tendencies of our politician who for their personal benefits can go to any extent. Exploiting peoples sentiments on one pretext or the other and making them fight with each other is the trusted weapon with politicians. They cannot leave it, rather they live by it.
This is where law can come into play. The law of the land if implemented in right earnest has capacity to deal with this situation. But it requires political and administrative will to tackle this dangerous situation. The Supreme Court has rightly said, “You have to examine that in some way these things can be checked. There is need to take concrete steps. These things are not good for the health of the country.” So it is right time that we stop this ugly practice right now.
