WASHINGTON, May 1: US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Russia next week for the first time since taking office to discuss a host of issues including Iran and the war in Syria.
“I just want to mention that I will be travelling to Russia next week, and the visit, in my judgement, is overdue. I look forward to that, and particularly given the range of issues that we need to discuss, from Syria to Iran to the upcoming G-8 summit in a little more than a month,” Kerry told reporters yesterday.
This would be the first top level bilateral exchange between the two countries after the last month’s Boston bombing in which two Chechen brothers are suspected to be involved.
Earlier in the day, US President Barack Obama praised Russia for its co-operation in the Boston bombing investigations. (PTI)
