JAMMU, Oct. 22: As a part of  Diwali celebrations, a  multilingual  Hasya Kavi Sammelan  was organized by  J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, at K L Saigal Hall here today.
In this Kavi Sammelan, poets from various languages of  Jammu division were invited who made the audience laugh with their humorous pieces of poetry.
Khalid Hussain, a prominent poet and writer presided over the function whereas V K Sambyal, Station Director, Radio Kashmir was chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary of the Academy also shared the presidium.
While delivering presidential address, Khalid Hussain greeted the poets and the audience on Diwali and appreciated the role of  the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for organizing a series of special programmes on the eve of Diwali. He said such events definitely provide an occasion to sit together and to celebrate such festivals without any creed and colour.
Mr Sambyal in his address congratulated the Academy and other distinguished guests for sparing time and celebrating this big festival of lights, which creates an atmosphere of harmony and brotherhood.
Earlier, Dr Arvinder Singh delivering his welcome address said that as good gesture, Academy has tried to hold such programmes in a first time just to come more nearer to the artists, intellectuals, litterateurs and others so that a congenial atmosphere could be created and Academy may go achieving its aims and objectives with the active support and assistance of these sections of intellectuals.
Those who participated in this Kavi Sammelan were  Randhir Singh Rajpuria,  Kewal Kumar Kewal,  Vijay Sharma,  Tara Chand Kalandria,  Surjeet Singh Hosh,  Padam Dev Singh, Brij Mohan, Harbans Lal Harsh, Mohd Rafeeq Rafeeq, Pankaj Gupta,  Mohinder Kumar Pagal, Bhagat Singh Zandeek,  Bhupinder Singh Bhargav, S  Charanjit Singh,  Amin Banihali,  Pawan Khajuria, and Parkash Premi.
Among others, Padamshree  N D Sharma, Nirmal Vinod, Dr  Chanchal Dogra, Sham Sajan,  Shiv Dutt,  Sham Talib, Dr J S Kirti, Dr Baljit Raina, Darshan Kour and a galaxy of artists, intellectuals and prominent citizens of Jammu were present in the function.
