JAMMU, Mar 3: A hardcore criminal was booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Satwari area here today.
Simrajot Singh of Chatha Pind, District Jammu, was booked under the stringent law for his continuous involvement in criminal activities in an organised manner, thus posing a threat to the public peace and order, said a police official.
According to him, the accused didn’t mend his behaviour inspite of being booked in multiple FIRs at different police stations of the district.
The hardcore criminal was arrested by police in number of cases, but the substantive law was not enough to tame him down, he said.
Keeping in view the activities of the accused and threat he was posing to the peace and tranquillity of the area, the accused was ordered to be detained under section 8 of the Public Safety Act (PSA) by the District Magistrate Jammu, the police official said.
His arrest has been appreciated by the locals, added the police official.
