Hakla reiterates demand for inclusion of Gojri in 8th Schedule

POONCH Mar 9: Reiterating his appeal regarding inclusion of Gojri language in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution, Shamsher Hakla Poonchi, a prominent Gujjar leader of J&K UT has appealed the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to make recommendations to the Government of India in this regard.
In a statement issued here, today he said this would ensure the development and spread of Gojri language.
Hakla further added that the Gojri language is being spoken by a very large number population of Gujjars and Bakerwals of Jammu and Kashmir the number of which goes over thirty four lakh which in no way could be ignored as the only mother tongue of these people is Gojri.
He said keeping in view of the demand of such a huge number of population of Gujjar and Bakerwals of J&K the inclusion of Gojri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India, is most genuine and justified.
