2 narcotics smugglers arrested, 38 kg poppy straw seized

UDHAMPUR, Mar 9: Continuing its drive against drug peddlers, Police Party of Police Station Udhampur today apprehended two narcotics smugglers and seized approx 38 kg of poppy straw.
During daily routine naka checking, Police Team of PS Udhampur, led by SHO Chanchal Singh, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs Udhampur, laid a naka at Jakhani Chowk, NHW and stopped one vehicle (Canter) bearing registration number PB10CQ- 9810.
During search , 38 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered from a modified concealed compartment from the vehicle.
The narcotic smugglers namely Gurvinder Singh, son of Amarjeet Singh of Lagtoo, Ludhiana, along with his associate Sukhdeep Singh, son of Wazir Singh of Badowal, Ludhiana, were arrested on the spot. Poppy straw and the vehicle were also seized.
In this connection, case FIR number 97/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
