JAMMU, Jan 14: Prominent Gujjar leader, Shamsher Hakla Poonchi, today appealed Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, to introduce a bill in the ongoing State Legislative Assembly Session for reservation of Assembly segments for Gujjar and Bakerwal community in the State.
In a statement here today, Hakla said the political reservation is compulsory for the Gujjars and Bakerwals of the State who have already been given Schedule Tribe status by the Government of India.
“There should have been reservation of Assembly segments for Gujjars and Bakerwals in the State and the Lok Sabha constituencies but it didn’t happen anywhere in the State due to indifferent attitude of the Governments towards Gujjar and Bakerwal community.
