SRINAGAR : Governor N N Vohra today undertook an aerial survey of twin routes leading to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas to review the snow situation to assess the time for commencing work for upcoming pilgrimage.
An official spokesman said Vohra undertook the aerial survey of Nunwan-Chandanwari-Sheshnag-Panjtarni-Baltal-axis to review the snow situation on the ground to asses the time for starting work for the annual yatra commencing on June 28.
The Governor, who is also Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, also visited Chandanwari along the traditional Pahalgam-cave route to inspect the status of infrastructure at the Access Control Gate.
Vohra was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer, SASB, R K Gupta, and other senior civil and police officers.
After going round the area, the Governor directed Anantnag Deputy Commissioner Saugat Biswas to ensure timely repairs of the Access Control infrastructure which suffered damage due to avalanche.
He also directed construction of suitable barricades to avoid mud and soil slips near the Gate, the spokesman said.
The Governor also passed directions for erection of chain link fencing along the pony track to regulate the movement of ponies across the Access Control Gate. (AGENCIES)
