SRINAGAR, Oct 16: Governor N N Vohra today chaired a meeting at the Raj Bhavan which was attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Tourism, Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Health and Nasir Aslam Wani, Minister of State for Tourism and Home.
The Governor, who is Chairman, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, had convened today’s meeting to discuss issues related to the Shri Amarnathji Yatra presently under consideration of the Supreme Court, matters arising from the experience of yatra 2012, and for establishing a time frame for implementation of various activities for the satisfactory conduct of yatra 2013.
Appreciating the item-wise list of matters, which required to be dealt with for the conduct of the yatra 2013, circulated by CEO, Shrine Board, the meeting noted that the Chief Secretary shall, in consultation with all concerned departments/agencies, finalise the “work plan” required to be submitted to the Supreme Court early next month and continue to monitor implementation of various activities required for the conduct of yatra 2013.
Besides taking decisions with regard to certain urgent matters, the meeting agreed that the High Level Committee, established last year to support preparations of the annual yatra, will continue to perform its designated role and hold regular meetings.
The meeting was also attended by Madhav Lal, Chief Secretary; B B Vyas, Principal Secretary, Planning and Development Department; Atal Dulloo, Commissioner/ Secretary, Tourism Department; Navin K Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board; and Preet Pal Singh, Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board.
