JAMMU, Feb 22:  Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti was celebrated with great enthusiasm and religious fervor across the State today.
In connection with the Jayanti celebrations of this great Guru, a grand function was organised at Guru Ravi Dass ji Temple at Krishna Nagar near GGM Science College by ALL J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha here today.  A large number of devotees from various parts of Jammu district and other parts attended this religious function.
Former Chief Secretary and legislator B R Kundal was the chief guest on the occasion while president of All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Piran Ditta presided over. State BSP president,  Tarsem Khullar, SSP Traffic Jammu Mohan Lal and SSP Security Ramesh Angral  were the guests of honour. Former BSP president Tulsi Dass Langeh and senior BSP leader Rakesh Wazir were also present besides others.
Shri Guru Ravi Dass ji temple was highly decorated by the Management Committee while district administration had made elaborate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the religious function. Special singers’ party from Punjab led by Dev Dildar enthralled the gathering by their devotional songs.
While speaking on the occasion chief guest  Mr Kundal, greeted the people on the occasion of Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti and appealed them to follow the teachings of this great saint. He said his teachings of love, peace,  brotherhood and equality are more relevant  even today.  On this occasion, Mr Kundal also raised the issue of adequate reservation to the SC/OBC  community and alleged that in J&K they are not getting their due share.
Mr Khullar and Piran Ditta in their addresses also greeted the people  and projected the issue of reservation and also criticized the previous Governments in the J&K State for not providing justice to the SCs  and OBCs. They appealed the present Administration to implement recommendations of Mandal Commission in the State.
They also threw light  on the life history and teachings of  Guru Ravi Dass ji and said that people should follow the path shown by the great Guru to the coming generations.  A community lunch was also arranged for the devotees.
Similar functions were held at various places across the region. At  Reasi a Shobha Yatra was taken out  to mark the Parkash Utsav of Guru Ravi Dass ji. The devotees were singing devotional songs and following the portraits of the Guru Ravi Dass ji mounted on the chariot.
At Kathua also, a function was held at Guru Ravi Dass Mandir, Parliwand. It was organised by Guru Ravi Dass Sabha unit Kathua along with Kabir Sabha, Guru Nabha Dass Sabha and Prajapat Sabha. A large number of devotees attended the programme. Several local leaders including Som Raj Majotra, Dhian Chand Ex-MLA, Madan Lal, LOk Natha, Rattan Chand and others addressed the gathering.
The devotees organised stalls of eatables/ Sharbat  at various places. Similar,  stall of drinks and eatables were also arranged at High Court Chowk in Janipur by devotees. Similar reports have been received from Samba, RS Pura, Vijaypur, Akhnoor and other parts.
