Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti celebrated

JAMMU, Feb 16: The 645th birthday of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the Jammu region, with devotees in large number organizing religious functions at various places today.
The main function in this connection was held at Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji’s temple at Krishna Nagar, on Canal Road Jammu. A large number of devotees thronged the temple and participated in the function organised by the Management Committee of Guru Ravi Dass Sabha under the leadership of Piran Ditta, its president.
The temple and the main lane up to Temple was highly decorated by the committee. A large number of devotees started visiting the temple since early morning to offer prayers and seek blessings of great Guru. Several leaders of the political parties and social organisations paid visit to the Temple and also attended the function.
Piran Ditta in his welcome address threw light on the life and teachings of great Guru and asked the people to follow the path shown by Guru Ravi Dass Ji. He termed Guru Ravi Dass ji as great saint of his time who taught love and respect for all the human beings in this universe. He greeted people on the Prakash Divas of great Guru.
Former minister and working president of JKPCC Raman Bhalla along with some party activists participated in the function. Former Chief Secretary, B R Kundal, DDC Member Taranjeet Singh Tony and Rakesh Wazir were also present.
Bhalla while greeting the people on this occasion recalled the teachings of great Guru and asked people to follow the path shown by the great Guru for the humanity and equality. He said the teachings of Guru Ravi Dass ji are most relevant even today. The message of Guru regarding love, peace, equality and respect to all should be followed by every human being.
Kundal called for strengthening the bonds of amity and working towards achieveing the objective of social empowerment and this will be biggest tribute to Guru Ravi Dass Ji.
While speaking in the function, senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana exhorted the people to inculcate the spirit of selflessness and righteousness as preached by saints and sages, saying fellow feelings hold key to the harmonious growth of society.
Paying rich tributes to great saint and social reformer Guru Ravi Dass Ji on his Jayanti at Krishna Nagar, Rana said that best way of celebrating the occasion is to take a pledge to follow his teachings in letter and spirit and work for building a society based on the natural principles of social justice, equality, compassion, love and togetherness. He said the teachings of Guruji have inspired the generations and helped in transforming the society, making it conducive for various communities, irrespective of cast, creed and colour.
Meanwhile, J&K Unit of BJP led by party president Ravinder Raina celebrated Guru Ravidass Jayanti at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The programme was organized by J&K BJP SC Morcha which was led by J&K BJP SC Morcha Prabhari Jaidev Rajwal and J&K BJP SC Morcha president Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat. DDC Chairperson Bharat Bhushan, J&K BJP spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan, former MLA Neelam Langeh and other senior party leaders also remembered and paid respect to the great pioneer saint of Bhakti period.
Raina, while remembering Guru Ravidass ji threw light on his teachings and life. He said that Guru ji was against all the evils prevailing in that time. He said that Shree Guru Ravidass was born in Seer Govardhanpur village, Uttar Pradesh in an underprivileged family. An advocate of human rights, Shree Guru Ravidass was a progressive thinker who spread the message of equality through his poems and teachings based on spirituality.
Senior BJP leader Vibodh Gupta along with BJP District president Rajouri Rajinder Gupta and MC Chairman Mohd. Arif today offered prayers at Shri Guru Ravidas Mandir in Rajouri. On this occasion, Gupta hailed Sant Shri Ravidass Ji and said that he dedicated his life to annihilating evil practices such as casteism and untouchability. Vibodh said he feels proud to assert that the Central Government under PM Modi ended the woes and discrimination with the Valmiki community in Jammu and Kashmir.
Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Akhnoor under the leadership of Manoj Kumar Uttam organized an impressive function at Guru Ravi Dass temple, wherein a large number of devotees from different parts of Akhnoor tehsil participated. An impressive Shobha yatra was also taken on the eve of Parkash Divas of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj here, today.
SSP Mohan Lal Bhagat, Deputy Director Indoor SKPA was the chief guest of the program. Others who were present on the occasion are Rattan Lal Bassan, Gullu Ram Bhagat and Sarpanch Virender Kumar.
Meanwhile, Sanatan Dharam Sabha Jammu organized yet another function with religious fervour where Saint Sahil ji Maharaj presided over the function and Ranjit Singh Jamwal AAG was the chief guest and Ramesh Lal, president Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Gangyal, Ex-president SS Jain Sabha Varinder Kumar Jain and president Aarya Pratinidhi Sabha Arun Choudhary, were the guests of honour.
The speakers emphasised on bringing positive change in the society and also stressed on the spirit of amity and brotherhood, which is equally relevant today. They said Guru Ravi Dass Ji’s teachings are based on justice and equality and will continue to inspire people of every era.
President SD Sabha Parshotam Dadichi, vice presidents Arun Gupta and Shakti Dutt Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
In Bhaderwah a grand function and Jhanki was organised under the leadership of Swami Raj, All J&K Shri Guru RaviDass Sabha district president. A large number of demotes participated a grand Shobha Yatra of Guru Ravi Dass Ji. Swami Raj described Guru Ravi Dass as great social reformer who tirelessly endeavoured to ameliorate the lot of the people, especially the down trodden and unprivileged sections of society.
In Lamberi near Sunderbani similar function was organised under the leadership of Th Yashu Vardan Singh where former minister and senior NC leader Nasir Sogami was the chief guest. Both the NC leaders greeted the people on the occasion. A large number of people attended the function at Guru Ravi Dass Ji’s temple at Lamberi and offered prayers.
Similar function was held at Kathua under the leadership of former MLA Dhian Chand, at Mand in Udhampur, under the leadership of advocate Sanjeet Kumar and Chhajju Ram and at Ghou Manhansan in Marh under the supervision of Parshotam Amit Manhas and Aadil Manhas.
