UDHAMPUR, Aug 18: Ellaquai Dehati Bank (EDB), Branch Udhampur today, organized financial literacy cum awareness camp, on the directions of DDC Udhampur Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, at Udhampur on the recently launched Pradhan Mantri’s Social Security Schemes namely (PMJJBY) Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, (PMSBY) Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and (APY) Atal Pension Yojana.
Minister of State for Finance & IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion.
The Minister appreciated the efforts of ED Bank for organizing financial literacy cum awareness camp. He added that due to lack of awareness and orientation for these social security schemes, the enrollment did not pick up well. He called upon the women folk to educate the masses in their surrounding for the enrollment in maximum number with these social security schemes. He said that these schemes provide not only social security but also provide financial help to the masses and help to improve socio economic status of the family.
Mr. Gupta stressed upon the bankers to involve women folk in maximum with the help of NGOs for the generation of awareness regarding the social security schemes in the society. He also impressed upon them to organize such more camp for registering people from labour class and others in the schemes so that these people avail the maximum benefits from these 3 schemes.
He informed the people that those who will join APY scheme upto Dec 31, 2015, Government will also contribute 50 percent amount in their bank accounts for a period of five years.
Director General Manager NABARD and Chairman ED Bank also spoke and highlighted the various aspects of these social security schemes and urged the masses to come forward to avail the benefits of these schemes.
Among others, Director General Manager NABARD, R.K. Shrivastva, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, Chairman EDB, Parvinder Bharti, AGM NABARD, Manohar Lal, Lead Bank Manager, Pandita, Regional Manager EDB, Inder Krishan Raina, BDO Udhampur, Dr. Pardeep Singh, Chairman Mahila Pragati Sangthan, Om Parkash, SHGs and large number of women were also present on the occasion.
