UDHAMPUR, Apr 2: Minister of State for Finance & IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta convened a meeting of officers of the concerned departments to discuss various developmental issues of Udhampur district here today.
The Minister took a detailed review of the developmental projects in the district and assured that all out efforts will be made to provide better amenities to the people. He said ambitious projects like development of Industrial park, Bio diversity Parks and IT hub in the district are in the pipeline which will help generate employment, increase tourist footfall and make the district a knowledge hub.
He said availability of land is main concern to develop these new projects in the district and directed DDC Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal to identify suitable land on priority by involving General Manager DIC and representative of Industries and Commerce. He also stressed upon the revenue officers to make a record of state land available as a land bank so that there are no undue delays in implementing new projects.
Calling for concerted effort for the beautification of the town, Mr. Gupta stressed for development of green parks within the town by proper utilization of available land. He also directed Chief Executive Officer Udhampur Municipality to ensure cleanliness and expedite solid waste management project.
He emphasized for better coordination between the concerned line departments for accelerating the tempo of ongoing developmental works without any compromise with the quality of work. He directed the Project Director NHAI to sort out the issues of additional service lane along National Highway and also instructed him to identify the locations where foot-over bridges are required for pedestrian safety.
He also asked officers of BRTF to take the matter of widening and resurfacing of old NH from Falata to Jakhani with higher authorities and stressed for the implementation of Ribbon Development Act so that there should be no scope for the encroachment of land along the Highway.
While assessing the damage caused due to incessant rains and the progress of disbursement of compensation among the affected families, Mr. Gupta directed for early settlement of pending cases of compensation. He directed Tehsildars to immediately submit village wise list of cases disposed off and pending with them.
During the meeting various issues regarding shortage of water & power supply, health and education etc were also discussed.
Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Yasha Mudgal briefed the Minister about the losses and damages caused due to recent rains.
Among the others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ajay Singh Jamwal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Suleman Choudhary, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Sharma, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, Project Director NHAI, R.P Singh, ACR, Rajeev Magotra, Representative of 35 BRTF, engineers of various PHE, PDD, PWD, PMGSY, SDM’s and senior officers of various department were also present in the meeting.
