JAMMU, Sept 15: The former Union Minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has sought the appointment of an expert committee to find out the draw backs that caused vast devastation because of rains and floods in various parts of the State.
He also stressed for fair distribution of relief and pin pointing the elements responsible for attacking the helicopters carrying the relief operations and pasting of anti-national posters even at this juncture of human deluge.
Prof Gupta said that there was much talk about planned developmental activities but the devastation has put a question mark that what type of planning it was.
He alleged that in addition to faulty planning, the encroachments and little repairs to check the disasters are the obvious reasons for the havoc. The proposed committee should look into the matter deeply, he asserted.
Prof Gupta expressed surprise over the missing of the local Government at this time of human sufferings especially in the valley of Kashmir and stressed the need for speedy measures to provide relief to the sufferers instead of leaving everything at the hands of Army which has done a great job in providing helping hand when the mankind was facing the furry of the nature.
He expressed surprise that the anti-national elements did not hesitate in playing foul even at this time when humanity was in a quite difficult situation longing for help to its survival.
Prof Gupta stressed the need for speeding up the distribution of relief in a fair manner but regretted that many affected areas of Jammu are not getting a fair deal and are being provided little relief.
