REASI, July 25: For ensuring peace and tranquility in the jurisdiction, District Police Reasi has identified nine notorious criminals who on the pretext of self protection had managed Arms licenses from different districts.
Two of them were possessing fake licenses where as record of one license issued by SDM Mendhar has been reportedly destroyed in a fire. On field report & recommendation of District Police Reasi, their licenses have been cancelled by respective District Magistrates following which the weapon along with ammunition were seized.
According to a Police spokesperson, these criminals were using these weapons to harass the peace loving and innocent people of the area and had created a fear psyscosis in the minds of common people.
Mohd Asghar of Jamslan Mahore, an OGW working for terrorists, had managed fake gun license from district Udhampur in the year 1984. He remained involved in 2 FIRs of harboring and murder. When police approached DM Udhampur, it came to light that his Gun license was fake.
Mohd Asghar of Jamslan Mahore a history sheeter of Police Station Mahore had also managed fake Gun license from district Poonch.
Mohd Ismail of Jamslan Mahore, history sheeter of Police Station Mahore managed Gun license from district Udhampur in 1996 while another History Sheeter Rattan Lal of Gaddal Reasi had surprisingly managed Gun license from District Srinagar.
Gulshan Kumar alias Shiv Jyoti of Gran Morh, a History Sheeter of Police Station Reasi, had managed Gun license from district Udhampur in 1996. Another History Sheeter of Police Station Mahore, Zaman Shah, resident of Soo-Bathoi (Mahore) had managed Gun license from district Udhampur. Raman Kumar of Arnas, a History Sheeter of Police Station Arnas had managed Gun license from district Jammu.
Gun licenses of history Sheeters Sachin Singh and Maan Singh are also recommended for cancellation and are under process of cancellation.
After field reports of bullying and harassment of common people by these History Sheeter and notorious criminals came in the notice of Reasi Police, SSP Reasi Shailender Singh identified these notorious criminals and made written correspondence with District Magistrates of Poonch, Srinagar, Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi and recommended for cancellation of Arms licenses issued in favour of these criminals.
