Gumat stairs to be developed as heritage point: MLA East

JAMMU, May 19: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Jammu East Rajesh Gupta held meeting with officials of various Government departments and leaders of various traders and business associations today.
The trader and business associations that participated in the meeting included Vivekananda Marg Association, Hari Market Association, Lower Gumat Association, New Kaleeth Mohalla Trader Association, Upper Hari Market Association, Gumat Bazaar Association and Gumat Stair Bazaar Association.
The officials representing various departments included Soujanya Sharma Municipal Commissioner, Rajesh Bhagat X-En PWD, Ashwani Sharma AEE PHE, and Rakesh Gupta X-En UEED.
The leaders of various associations present in the meeting demanded the arrangement of fresh drinking water and uninterrupted supply of electricity particularly during the course of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra.
Rajesh Gupta assured that all the concerns raised by the leaders of the associations would be addressed on war footing and instructions to this effect have been issued on the spot.
Gupta said that a gateway of Jammu would be raised at the Gumat Stairs and it would be developed as a heritage point. A park at New Kaleeth Mohalla would be developed immediately as per the promise made with the people of the area.
“Another gate would be raised at Hari Market entry point. An overhead bridge at Hari Market along with escalators is proposed to be developed in the coming days. In view of the coming Amarnath Yatra the up-gradation of drains and footpaths would be undertaken immediately at the Hari Market area”, he added.
The prominent among those who attended the meeting included Ashwani, Karan Singh, Duleep, Raj Kumar, Mohan Lal Gupta, Ashutosh, Rajeev Gupta, Anil Gupta, Naresh Mahajan, Ravi Mahajan, Rajesh Raina, Gulshan Mahajan, Pritam, Chaman Lal and Manohar Lal.
