SRINAGAR, Sept 23: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul today distributed scholarship cheques among 46 students of Government Middle School Tibtian Colony Kakasahib, Sangam at a simple function.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that education is key to overall development. He stressed students to work with dedication and achieve education so that they can compete easily.
Reiterating the contribution of late Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Mr. Gul said that his contribution in uplifting the status of education in the State will be remembered forever.
Referring to the development works under execution in Eidgah Constituency, Mr. Gul said that the construction work on various projects is in full swing. He said that he had given directions to the concerned executing agencies to complete all ongoing developmental projects in the constituency in a time bound manner so that the benefits of these schemes percolate down to the people well in time.
Earlier, the Speaker convened an officers meeting to review the pace of progress on all developmental works under execution in Eidgah Constituency.
He underscored the need for construction of four dumping sites in North, South, East and West of Srinagar district so that the solid waste management could be disposed of properly on modern scientific lines. For the purpose, he directed the concerned agencies to formulate a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) and submit the same to the concerned quarters so that funds could be arranged.
Threadbare discussion was held on Achan dumping site and improvement and upgradation of roads, link roads, drains, lanes in these areas, installation of pump stations and acquisition of land for construction of pumping stations and road cuts.
The Speaker directed the authorities of National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC), R&B, UEED, ERA and SMC to work with unison and complete all on going developmental projects in Eidgah area without any delay.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Planning, B. R. Sharma, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Chief Engineer, UEED, M Hanief Lone and other officers of SMC, ERA, NBCC, UEED, R&B besides Assembly Secretariat.
