JAMMU, Aug 18: Sukhnandan Kumar, (MLA Marh) organized a function of Gujjar Community at Chinore Farm, in Marh Assembly segment where Gulam Ali, Pardesh secretary and Prabhari ST Morcha and Sham Chowdhary, MLA Suchetgarh also participated.
The number of community leaders appraised their miseries in front of the visiting leaders and said that their living condition is very vulenerable. The leader assured them redressal of their grievances.
Gulam Ali, on the occasion, said that the people of State are fed up with the policies of the NC-Congress coalition government. He accused the Congress and Kashmir based political parties for using these downtrodden communities mere as a vote bank and said these parties have no interest to develop/upgrade the living conditions of this nomadic community. He said richest ever nomadic culture is dying and Government is selling their centuries old dhok to the Tourism Department and various other agencies and said that when they come down in Winter in the plains of Jammu, the State Government in a planned manner uproot them through development authorities.
Er. Ali said that about three lakhs nomadic Gujjars have migrated to the neighbouring State Punjab, Haryana etc. for the last many years. He said without complete extension of tribal welfare laws to the State of Jammu & Kashmir their rights and culture cannot be protected.
Sukhnandan Kumar accused the former MLA Marh and sitting NC Minister for ignoring the Gujjar community in every sphere of life particularly in Marh Assembly Constituency. He said after becoming an MLA”, I have taken number of initiative to develop these bastis, and connected number of Gujjar’s bastis through roads, and provided electric polls and transformers to the maximum number of Gujjar bastis.
He further said, “I have taken the number of development projects with the Border Area Development Department. The number of hand pumps has been provided from my CDF to these bastis. He said I will work day and night for this downtrodden community”.
Sham Choudhary said nomadic Gujjar community is a part and parcel of our composite culture and very cordial relations among different sections of the society and living with peace and coexistence.
Rahim Choudhary, Billa Choudhary, Bahal Din Choudhary, Om Prakash, Sat Pal, Raj Kumar, Tao Choudhary, Hardeep Singh, Kabil Singh and others were present in the function.
