SRINAGAR, July 21: A delegation of prominent writers of Gujjar community met Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Human Resource Development on to Kashmir valley here today,
The delegation submitted a seven point Memorandum to him in presence of Prof Saif- ud- Din Soz , Member of Rajaya Sabha.
The memorandum was submitted to the Minister through Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation-a frontal organization of Jammu and Kashmir. Prominent Gojri writer Ch S D Bajad and Gujjar activist Dr Javaid Rahi were leading the delegations.
The demands in the memorandum included establishment of Tribal University in Per Panchal area of Jammu and Kashmir, inclusion of Gojri Language in the eighth schedule of Indian Constitution which is pending in New Delhi, enhancement of reserved seats in all major Universities and Colleges, implementation of 10% reservation for Schedule Tribes in all recruitments/promotions in Kashmir University(KU), Srinagar and Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri (J&K), establishment of “Gojri Research Centre” in University of Jammu by implementing the decision of its Council meeting held in 2008 with regard to development of Gojri Language and opening of Gojri department in Kashmir University on the prototype of Kashmiri department already working in KU.
The Minister assured the delegation that he will look into the issues and do the needful.
