MENDHAR, Jan 18: A large green tree illegally axed in the ITI Complex at Mendhar was today seized by police and Naib Tehsildar here today.
On the basis on public complaint, the Naib Tehsildar and SHO Mendhar reached the spot and asked the ITI staff about the permission sought from any agency to fell this large green tree in the complex. As they failed to produce any permission or give satisfactory reply, they seized the felled tree which had been converted into six long logs.
On the directions of ADC Poonch, the Revenue authorities lodged an FIR in this connection against the erring staff. The wood cutter was also detained for questioning who told that staff members had asked him to do so and shift logs to the house of one of them. Further investigation was in progress. It is pertinent to mention here that about eight trees were earlier felled in the complex by the staff and that timber had also been seized.
