Goyal lashes out PC for doubting Armed forces

TUTICORIN (Tamil Nadu): Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday lashed out at former Union Minister P Chidambaram for doubting India’s armed forces in
the wake of the recent actions, including the IAF strikes at Balakot terror camps, that followed the Pulwama terror attack.

Talking to reporters on his arrival at the airport here to inaugurate various Railway projects, Mr Goyal said it was shameful that people like Mr Chidambaram were raising questions and doubts about the armed forces and strongly condemned the same.

”As an Indian citizen, raising doubts and demeaning our own Armed forces, they are speaking in favour of Pakistan”, he added. He said at a time when the country was facing several challenges on  the terrorism front, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been acting as
a good leader by taking firm decisions to protect the Nation.

Mr Chidambaram in a series of tweets has said that as a proud citizen he was prepared to believe the government, but the government has to take the effort if it wanted the world to believe, instead of indulging in  Opposition-bashing.

”As a proud citizen, I am prepared to believe my government. But if we want the world to believe, the government must make the effort, not indulge in Opposition-bashing”, Mr Chidambaram said.

He also said ”IAF Vice Air Marshal declined to comment on casualties.  MEA statement said there were no civilian or military casualties. So, who put out the number of casualties as 300-350”. Mr Chidambaram also said Congress President Rahul Gandhi was the first to salute the Indian Air Force for its splendid achievement and sought to know Why has Mr Modi forgotten that? (AGENCIES)
