MOSCOW: An Indian delegation headed by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal arrived in Vladivostok on Sunday to tap investment and business opportunities in Russia’s resource-rich Far East.
Goyal is accompanied by Chief Ministers of UP, Haryana, Gujarat and Goa and more than 100 business leaders in his three-day visit to the region.
They were accorded a warm reception by Russian Minister of Far East Alexander Kozlov.
India is looking to gain from the investment-friendly Russian stance in the region, which includes significant incentives and tax breaks, allowing Indian investments and labour for projects.
Indian entities are already engaged in key sectors like power, coal, oil and gas.
The delegation’s visit which would see announcements on collaborative projects, is a precursor to the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Vladivostok in early September for the Eastern Economic Forum, where he will be the chief guest.
