Govt’s new security doctrine–target terrorists at their point of origin, says Jaitley

NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the Government “has evolved a new security doctrine in which terrorists in Pakistan will be targeted at their point of origin”.

Speaking at the day long conclave “Vande Mataram” here, Jaitley said, “Since 1971 war, the Line of Control and International Border with Pakistan were being considered sacrosanct. Till now, the enemy was pushing in terrorists from across the LoC to carry out killings, but now our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has evolved a new security doctrine. In this, we have decided to target terrorists at their points of origin”.

Jaitley said, “I cannot say when terrorism (from Pakistan) will end. Only those who are supporting terrorism do know. We will take the support of all countries of the world with us considering the world geo-political trends. We will also have to go a step further. … India will have to remain pro-active and the underlying national interest for the future will be, and this has been made clear by this Government, that if you indulge in terrorism, the cost will be so high that you will find terrorism unaffordable.” (AGENCIES)
