Govt urged to protect employment, educational opportunities of J&K youth

JAMMU, Oct 8: J&K Mission Lok Adhikaar, an amalgam of social activists, has appealed the Central Government to secure future of un-employed educated youth of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State.
In a statement, chairman of Mission Lok Adhikaar, Dr Amar Chand Bhagat expressed apprehensions that after the re-organization of J&K State and abrogation of its special status , the local youth may not be able to get Government jobs because of stiff competition with non-locals.
“Over the last three decades, the J&K State has remained a disturbed State under the grip of militancy, which has severely affected education system while tough topographical terrain of the State, backwardness in rural areas are other factors which make it difficult for the local youth to compete with educated youth from other parts of the country,” he explained.
He further elaborated that regions like Pir Panchal and erstwhile Doda are very difficult terrain and need to be given special attention while implementing the new employment policy for the educated youth after re-organization of the State.
“The educated un-employed youth of J&K need to be heard by the Central Government before bringing in abrupt changes in education and employment sectors,” said Mr Bhagat and appealed the Central Government to take into consideration the ground situation so that employment and educational opportunities of the local youth are not snatched.
