SRINAGAR, Sept 22: Patron People’s Welfare Association Ganderbal and Pensioners Welfare Association, Mir Ghulam Rasool expressed concern over the distribution of sub standard ration among the flood hit people in Sherpathri, Sonawari and other areas.
In a statement issued here, today he alleged that instead of Rs 1000 as fixed by Government for one bag of ration the CAPD depot holders were charging Rs 1060 from consumers in various areas of Ganderbal district and despite the repeated pleas to authorities they have failed to act against such store keepers.
Mir said in view of the damage and destruction caused by floods the interest on all kinds of loans be waived off and recovery of loans be also delayed. He criticized the State Government for its failure in providing timely relief and rescue to the flood hit people. He however appreciated the social organizations and youth in providing all support and assistance to them and also installing relief camps at various places.
He said it was with the support of the youth and social organizations that relief and rehabilitation camps were installed at Vakura, Batwani, Gurzahama, Vaskura, Ahan, Zazhama, Kurhama, Yangoor and Dab.
He also demanded immediate supply of food grains, K Oil, cooking gas and other essential commodities to flood hit people and also action against the hoarders and black marketers.
Mir said that 50 percent of paddy and fruit were destroyed in Ganderbal district especially in Sherpathri due to floods and heavy rains.
