JAMMU, May 17: Expressing concern over the inordinate delay being caused in the completion of Manda Wild life Zoo, a prestigious Jammu tourism project, announced by the Forest Minister wayback during 2012, a joint statement issued by Jammu based tourism traders organizations has urged the Government for an early completion of Manda Zoo and Artificial Tawi Lake so as to save tourism related projects thereby infusing much needed oxygen to the trade and the people associated with it.
Jammu Paryatan Vikas Mandal Chairman Inderjeet Khajuria, All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association President Pawan Gupta, All Jammu Hotels and Restaurants Association President Kuldip Wahi, Hotels and Restaurants Association Bazar Khatikan Ashiq Hussain, Jammu Development Council Chairman Kamal Gupta and Raghunath Bazar Traders Association President Surinder Gupta said that on the eve of inauguration of trainlink extension to Katra the Prime Minister of India and the State Chief Minister had openly announced and assured Jammu tourism traders that every effort would be made to make Jammu as independent tourist nation and Jammu in no case shall be allowed to become Pathankot but the reality on ground is unfortunately to the contrary.
The tourism related traders have suffered a great financial setback due to continuous business deterioration with both the Centre and State Governments acting as mute spectator when the future livelihood of more than 5 lakh dependents is at stake.
To make Jammu an independent tourist destination wide publicity at worldwide international level should be given that Jammu is safe from militancy with no dirth of places with scenic beauty and tourists can enjoy worth seeing places in Jammu for continuous more than 15 days by visiting scenic places like Bhadarwah, Mughal Road Poonch, Patnitop, Sanasar, Mantalai, Ranjitsagar Dam etc.
In order to save Jammu tourism which at present is on ventilator Khajuria urged the Govts at the Centre and the state to prioritise timebound the completion of 120 Crore Project of Manda Wildlife Zoo and Artificial Lake Project on Tawi river which is already 80 % complete.
