KELLER, (SHOPIAN), Oct 4: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI & Trainings, Ch Lal Singh along with Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash today toured South Kashmir districts to review the health scenario.
The Health Minister urged officials to make ‘serving people’ their prime motive. “God has bestowed upon you an important assignment, so you should feel lucky and honored to serve people,” the Minister said while interacting with officials during his visit to a hospital in South Kashmir.
Mr. Lal Singh said health sector will be upgraded in terms of manpower and equipment. “We are working towards complete revamp and overhaul of the health sector and in due course of time this vital sector will be in best of its shape. Government is committed to turn Jammu and Kashmir into a healthy state,” he said.
The Health Minister said that an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in implementation of health schemes and delivery of services.
The Health Minister urged people to remain vigilant and report any kind of negligence in service by any official. “Development doesn’t come free. It needs cooperation and commitment from both ends-government as well as people,” Lal Singh said. “I want people to cooperate with Government in realising the dream of making J&K a healthy state,” he added.
Meanwhile, Asiea Naqash said that Government was keen to understand problems of people and take steps to resolve them. “When we visit your areas, it doesn’t mean that we have come just for a tour. It means we feel for you. We want to work for you and have plans for your development,” Asiea Naqash told people at Keller hospital premises.
“We are elected to serve people in every field. Health, medical education, agriculture, horticulture and many other sectors will witness boom as far as development is concerned,” she said.
Reiterating policy of the Government in health sector, Asiea Naqash said that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has a dream to see Jammu and Kashmir prospering in health sector.
The Ministers also conducted on spot inspection of hospital drug stores and took stock of medicines, bedding and other facilities being provided to patients by the hospital administration. The Ministers assured people of a proper follow-up to know status of the development works.
The Ministers visited Sub District Hospital, Wachi and PHC Imam Sahab in Shopian, District Hospital, Shopian, Shaadab Karewa, Sub District Hospital, Keller and District Hospital, Pulwama.
The Ministers were accompanied by MLA Shopian, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, MLA Wachi, Advocate Aijaz Ahmad Mir, MLC Zaffar Manhas, Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, G. M. Dar, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Sumeer Mattoo, Mission Director Family Welfare, Dr Baldev, Director, NHM, Dr Mohan Singh, CMOs, BMOs Medical Superintendents, senior police officials among other HoDs and senior officers of the Health Department.
