‘Govt should not be bogged down by political blackmail’

JAMMU, Oct 24: Various leaders from social organizations and heads of biradaries representing general categories joined hands to frame Joint Action Committee (JAC) and launch mass movement against the political blackmail by some organizations who are creating wedge in the society by attributing recent High Court judgment on promotion quota issue  as anti-downtrodden.
President Central Mahajan Sabha Vinod Kumar Gupta, president Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha Narayan Singh, vice president Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha Satyanand Sharma, Senior vice president Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu Sham Langar, secretary general CCI Arun Gupta;  Prof Mohd Ayub (Retd Secy J&K School Board); Ram Pal Seth president Arakshan Virodi Manch J&K; Gur Dev Singh president J&K Sharnarthi Action Committee and many others in a resolution adopted vowed to wage a struggle to thwart the ill-conceived designs of some people who are trying to create wedge in the society by exploiting people on this sensitive issue.  They said even some political parties have come out in the support merely for vote bank politics.
It was impressed upon by all the speakers in the meeting here that the Government should not get bogged down by any false and motivated propaganda and political blackmail by some organizations and should  implement the High Court judgment on top priority so that about 70 % population from general category which has been suffering due to unconstitutional reservation in promotions gets sigh of relief.
The speakers stressed that some organizations and politicians were trying to create social wedge by attributing this judgment as anti-downtrodden while as on the contrary this judgment has rectified an anomaly which was depriving 70 % of the population of their `right of  equality’.  They made an appeal to the Government to implement the High Court judgment on top priority and demote all those officials who have illegally availed the benefit of reservation in promotions and are  still occupying key posts. This will ensure that meritorious and deserving incumbents occupy their due positions.
The Joint Action Committee also unanimously decided to present a joint memorandum to the Government in this regard so that the Government becomes aware of the aspirations of  over 70 % population of the State. The committee also decided that in case the Government fails to implement the Court judgment or any attempt is made to dilute it, a State-wide agitation would be launched and the consequences there of shall rest with the Government.
The meeting was conducted by Shiv Charan Sharma, secretary Brahman Sabha and concluded with vote of thanks by Vinod Gupta, president Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha.
