Experts to assist in promotion, selection of faculty

Srinagar, July 6: While the Director, SKIMS was earlier directed not to look after the issues related to procurement and appointments after his term was extended till December, the Government in the latest move today reconstituted 4 high-level committees of the Institute.
The committees that have been reconstituted include the Purchase Sub-Committee, Selection/Promotion Committees and the Apical Selection Committee.
For the Apical Selection Committee of SKIMS, the Chief Secretary or an officer of the rank of Chief Secretary to be nominated by him will be the Chairman of the Apical Selection Committee.
Administrative Secretary, H&ME Department, Director, AIIMS, New Delhi or Dean as his representative in the event of his non-availability, Director, AIIMS, New Delhi or Dean as his representative in the event of his non-availability, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh or Dean as his representative in the event of his non-availability, Prof. M. S. Khuroo, former Director and Dean, SKIMS, Director General, Codes, Finance Department, Principal, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Medical Superintendent, SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, Srinagar have been nominated as Members of the committee, while as Dean, Medical Faculty, SKIMS will be the co-opted member and the Additional Director, SKIMS will be the Member Secretary of the Apical Selection Committee.
The Apical Selection Committee, the Government directed, shall be assisted by the experts from outside the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. “Two for selection/Promotion to the Faculty positions at the level of Professor/Additional Professor and one for Associate Professor/Assistant Professor which will be nominated by the Additional Director, SKIMS,” it stated.
Also, the recommendations of the Apical Selection Committee shall be implemented by Director, SKIMS with the prior of the Chairman Governing Body, SKIMS.
About the Purchase Sub-committee, the Government stated that the Director-General, Codes, Finance Department will act as the Chairman of the Committee, while as the Dean, Medical Faculty, SKIMS Additional Director, SKIMS, Medical Superintendent, SKIMS, Chief Engineer, SKIMS, Medical Superintendent, SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, Srinagar, Director Finance, SKIMS, Concerned HoD for which the purchases are to be made, representative of I&C Department, Deputy Director (Planning), SKIMS, have been designated as Members of the Committee. At the same time, the Chief of Materials Management, SKIMS has been designated as Member-Secretary of the committee.
For the Selection/Promotion Committees, in Senior Selection Committee, Director-General Codes, Finance Department will act as the Chairman, while as Dean, Medical Faculty, SKIMS, Medical Superintendent, SKIMS, Representative of General Administration Department, Director Finance, SKIMS will act as members of the committee and at the same time, Additional Director, SKIMS as has been designated as Member Secretary of the committee.
For the Junior Selection Committee, its Chairman would be the Director-General Codes, Finance Department, while as Dean, Medical Faculty, SKIMS, Representative of General Administration Department and Director Finance, SKIMS have been designated as Members. Additional Director, SKIMS will act as the Member Secretary of the Junior Selection Committee.
