MENDHAR, Apr 3: Holding Government of India responsible for the miseries of border residents, senior National Conference leader, Javed Ahmed Rana today lashed out at the Centre for playing politics over the lives of border residents.
Addressing a gathering at Chhatral, Rana said that the Government of India never bothered about the plight of border residents and instead played politics over their lives. They are living in fear due to continuous ceasefire violations at the LoC, he added.
Lashing at Prime Minister Modi for making false promises, Rana said, “Modi ji has lost credibility to rule this country. He never bothered to come and see condition of the people living at the border. BJP played vote bank politics by luring the border dwellers that their issues including permanent rehabilitation and plots at safer places will be mitigated permanently but no one from the Centre ever visited to these areas to redress sufferings of border dwellers,” he said.
Rana further said that only substantive dialogue between both the countries will yield results and the tension at the border will ease down. “We both need to understand that only fruitful talks between both the nuclear power nations will help us to achieve what we wanted to achieve in the past 70 years. But I think that the present dispensation has never bothered to address this problem and instead made such statements which have always escalated tension on both the sides,” he alleged.
Rana demanded compensation for all recently affected persons and also for the family of deceased who passed away two days ago due to ceasefire violation.
Those who addressed the gathering, included Ch Wali Dad, Adv Nazir Hussain, Mian Sheraz Azhari, Ch Mohd Zaman and others.
