JAMMU, May 9: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has nominated a fresh set of senior officers as mentors for various districts across the Union Territory.
The appointments, made through Government Order Number 573-JK (GAD) of 2025 issued today, are aimed at bolstering on-ground governance, ensuring inter-agency coordination, and facilitating efficient delivery of essential services in the districts. This order follows Government Order Number 572-JK(GAD) of 2025 issued a day earlier.
According to the order issued by the General Administration Department, the nominated officers include some of the senior most IAS, IFS and JKAS officers serving in the UT administration.
Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Higher Education Department, has been assigned to Srinagar district. H Rajesh Prasad, Principal Secretary of Power Development Department, will serve as Mentor for Budgam. Santosh Dattatraya Vaidya, Principal Secretary Finance Department, has been designated for Pulwama. Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary Department of Culture, has been assigned to Ramban.
In Ganderbal, the Mentor will be Saurabh Bhagat, Commissioner/ Secretary, Science and Technology Department. Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner/ Secretary, Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment, has been tasked with mentoring Udhampur. Neeraj Kumar, Administrative Secretary, Transport Department, will oversee Kulgam, while Prasanna Ramaswamy G, Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department, will mentor Shopian.
Further, Talat Parvez Rohella, Secretary, Planning, Development & Monitoring Department, has been nominated for Doda, and Mohd Aijaz, Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, has been assigned to Kishtwar. Zubair Ahmad, Commissioner/ Secretary, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, will be responsible for Anantnag, and Babila Rakwal, Commissioner/ Secretary, Cooperative Department, has been appointed as the Mentor for Reasi.
These officers have been entrusted with critical responsibilities, which include frequent visits to their respective districts to guide local administration, especially in areas related to relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations. They are expected to review and ensure the security of vital and vulnerable installations, facilitate coordination among civil, police, Army, and other Government agencies, and monitor the availability of essential services such as water, electricity, communication and road connectivity.
Moreover, they will ensure the supply of essential commodities like food grains, vegetables, fuel and LPG, and flag district-level issues to the Civil Secretariat or the Office of the Chief Secretary whenever necessary.
