Govt ignoring students of camp schools: MTWA

JAMMU, Jan 29: Migrant Teachers Welfare Association (MTWA) in an emergency meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of its president Ramesh Kumar Raina while discussing the problems of camp schools in general and displaced teachers in particular criticized the authorities of Education Department for transferring the teachers from migrant schools to far flung areas which will affect the studies of the students in the camp schools.
The meeting said that teachers of maximum subjects posted in camp schools have been transferred to far flung areas after their promotion with out posting a substitute there. This may affect the studies of the students in the camp schools and it reveals that the Government is not bothered for the students studying there, the meeting added.
The Executive members said that during their meeting with Director School Education Jammu recently the issue was taken up with her and she had assured that the interest of camp schools will be taken care of and need based subject lecturers will be provided from amongst the promotes from camp schools.
The meeting expressed grave concern over neglecting of camp schools by the authorities of Education Department so far as providing of subject specialized teachers are concerned. This way the students in these schools have been left in lurch and are made to suffer for no fault of theirs. It said the schools are facing acute shortage of subject specialized teachers and the shortage has taken horrible dimension when some of the masters are elevated as I/C lecturers and posed in other schools leaving the camp schools to suffer.
The members appealed the authorities at the helm of affairs including the Director Education to look into the matter and provide subject specialized teachers to the camp schools so that the students don’t suffer. Moreover they also appealed the Government to adjust the left out teachers who were promoted as masters so that justice can be provided to them also.
The others who attended the meeting included Susheel Razdan, Bal Ji Marhatta, Munoo Ji Koul, Satish Ji, Vinod Dhar etc.
