JAMMU, May 21: Kashmiri Pandit Conference ( KPC ) has expressed its grave concern over the failure of Government in settling the long standing issues of displaced Pandits from valley and reiterated its demand of settling the community by carving out Kashyap State within Valley.
In a meeting held at New Delhi under the chairmanship of its president Kundan Kashmiri today, KPC said instead of settling the issues of the displaced Pandits from the Valley the Government is compounding their problems day by day by its harsh decisions. He said knowing fully that the displaced Pandits especially relief holders can’t make their both ends meet on a meagre cash relief of Rs 13000 per month it has issued orders of recovering the power tariff from camp inmates.
He said the decision of Government is totally illogical as the hapless people are unable to pay power tariff out of the meagre cash doles. He said during last five years the Government failed to enhance the cash relief as the displaced people dependent on the same for their survival.
KPC demanded that instead of harassing the community with such illogical orders, the Government should take drastic steps for their rehabilitation in the Kashyap State and also pay compensation to the community for the last 33 years of losses suffered by it in the shape of destruction of their movable and immovable property.
Other KPC leaders who participated in the meeting were Dr.HL Saraf , MK Raina, Sushil Bhat, RL, Raina, SL Zuthsi, Swaraj Wali etc.
