JAMMU, Sept 5: Present BJP-PDP dispensation has utterly failed to check rising prices, said Ajay Sadhotra, former Minister and senior National Conference leader while addressing a meeting of prominent workers of NC, block Marh at Channu Chak which was chaired by senior party leader Master Paras Ram.
The NC leader said that ruling alliance of BJP-PDP Government in the State and BJP Government at the Centre has increased the miseries of common people manifold. He said BJP during Parliament elections had promised “Achhe Din” if it voted to power. Rise in prices of food grains, cooking gas, vegetables, fertilizers, seeds have broken the backbone of the common man. The poor middle class BPL people are hand to mouth and their purchasing capacity sharply come down. The people are feeling insecure. Are these “Achhe Din”, Sadhotra asked, adding that the common man is praying to God for “Purane Bure Din”.
In present situation, common man cannot have his own house due to rise in prices of cement and steel, sand, bajri and other building material items like wood etc. Government of India is making tall claims of providing houses to every person in the country. It is doubtful whether this scheme shall be really translated on ground or shall become traditional BJP Jumla, said Sadhotra.
BJP Government has not even spared the cost of recharging mobile connections. Service tax on mobiles has badly hit the common youth.
The rise in the prices of diesel and petrol has become big question mark for the BJP Government at the Centre. Since 2014 the prices of crude oil have reasonably come down but Central Government have failed to reduce the prices, said Sadhtora.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Kasturi Lal, Master Paras Ram, Capt Om Parkash, Pt Jagdish Raj, Charan Dass, Piar Singh, S Gurnam Singh, S Inderpal Singh, Ch Dewan Singh, S Surinder Singh, Sodagar Saini, Sub Ghasita Ram, Pt Mangal Dass, Swaran Singh, Ch Keemat Lal, Ghar Singh, Rameshwar Sharma, Suraj Parkash, Master Milkhi Ram, Nirmala Devi, Ch Naresh, Subash Bhagat, Rakesh Kumar, Gulshan Sharma and Tannu.
