Govt failed to honour commitment : JKPPM

Excelsior Correspondent
RAJOURI, Sept 30: J&K Pahari People Movement ( JKPPM) has threatened to launch massive agitation on the pattern of Gujjars of Rajasathan as the Government has failed to provide ST status to the `Paharis’.
Shahbaz Khan a Pahari movement leader claimed that thousands of unemployed Pahari youth have been frustrated over the discriminatory attitude of the State and the Central Government. These youth can be misused by the anti-social and anti-national elements.
Mr Khan said that people from Rajouri and Poonch are demanding ST status since long. They now have planned to launch massive agitation as the Government only made promises but failed to honour its commitment in providing ST status to the Paharis. He said several corner meetings are being conducted to mobilize the public opinion in this regard.
He further pointed out that many leaders including Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mufti Mohd Sayeed have supported their cause but nothing on the ground was visible so far. He said the Paharis are being provoked to launch a massive agitation and only this option wasnow left with them.
