JAMMU, Dec 18: Former Minister and Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has alleged that PDP-BJP Government has failed to address basic issues of the public.
In a press statement here, Mr Sharma expressed deep anguish over the miserable condition of people due to non availability of ration and sugar in Govt sale depot for the last three or four months.
He alleged that quantity of ration which was up to 35 kgs earlier, now has been reduced to 10 to 15 kg per family which is not available regularly every month. Moreover, the new ration cards which are now going to be issued by CAPD Department have also been knowingly reduced from three cards to one card.
The Congress leader further alleged that Govt deliberately fixed the quantity as 5 kg per member which is not sufficient and much lower than the required quantity issued earlier. Dr Sharma said that our State is hilly and deficient in food grains and Government should apply its mind keeping in view the basic requirement/needs on ground.
Mr Sharma demanded that food grains such as rice, atta and sugar supply should be made regular every month besides ensure sufficient quantity of the food stuff. The ration cards should be issued as per the actual requirement as the population has increased. He criticized the present dispensation and alleged that it has habit of working against the interest of general public and the decisions of the previous Government.
