NEW DELHI, July 2:
The Government has extended the rules by two years to give Leave Travel Concession (LTC) allowance for an all-India service officer to visit the North Eastern States and Jammu and Kashmir.
The extension, till 2014, will enable an officer to claim fare and LTC grant (which vary from the rank of officer) for their travel.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has sent a circular to all Chief Secretaries of States and Union Territories in this regard.
The move, officials say, is aimed at encouraging officials to visit such States and take up employment there.
Recently, the Centre has also announced a slew of special facilities for its employees working in Kashmir valley, including departmental arrangement for their stay, security and transportation to the place of work.
The package of concession is admissible only in the Valley consisting of 10 districts namely, Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Srinagar, Kulgam, Shopian, Ganderbal and Bandipora.
The DoPT has already extended till this year end relaxation for LTC by air for its employees to visit J&K.
“The condition is that air tickets can be purchased either directly from the airlines or through the department authorised agents”, an official said adding that “travel by air continues to be in Economy class only, irrespective of the entitlement of the officer”. (PTI)
