JAMMU, Dec 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees and Workers Joint Action Committee members today held strong protest demonstration near Press Club here, demanding regularization of daily wagers and implementation of Minimum Wages Act in J&K.
A large number of employees and workers from various departments including PHE, PDD, R&B etc assembled outside Press Club of Jammu near Tawi bridge under the leadership of Babu Hussain Malik and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands and also against the LG Administration.

Similar protest at Srinagar under the same banner of EJAC today was led by Muzaffar Nabi, senior Trade Union leader from Kashmir. The workers also assembled outside Press Club, Srinagar and launched protest dharna.
Besides Babu Hussain, several senior trade union leaders also addressed the gathering. They were demanding not to amend SRO-43 and implement it in letter and spirit, regularization of daily wagers and other casual and temporary workers including, NHM, Asha workers; implement Minimum Wages Act in J&K, removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre, create separate department of ministerial cadre, increase Medical allowance of employees and pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month, holding of DPC regularly and provide all the benefits to the J&K employees at par with other UTs and the Central Govt employees. Many Public Sector employees and workers also joined the protest.
Prominent among those who joined included- Hilal Ahmed Khan, Yash Pal Sharma, Darshan Magotra, Vikas Chander, Vijay Koul, Bharat Bhushan, Meenakshi Sharma, Munish Sharma, Neeraj Sharma, Arun Sharma, Lekh Raj Sharma and others.
