Govt directs shifting of sheep farm from Dachigam Park by month end

JAMMU, Mar 22: The Department of Animal and Sheep Husbandry was today directed to shift the sheep breeding farm from Dachigam National Park by March 31, 2017.
The direction was issued in a meeting convened by B B Vyas, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister here today. Commissioner Secretaries of Animal and Sheep Husbandry and Forest Departments, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Chief Wildlife Warden, Secretary Technical (Forests) and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir also attended the meeting.
It was decided that the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir will constitute a committee of revenue officers under Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to demarcate the alternate site located at Khimber for shifting of the sheep farm from Dachigam National Park by March 31, 2017.
Commissioner Secretary, Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department was asked to get the DPR prepared for the location of sheep farm by April 31, 2017 and the same should be implemented from May to September 2017.
The sheep and the records present in the sheep breeding farm in Dachigam National Park should be shifted to already existing farms in Kashmir rationally as already decided by the Chief Secretary and the process should be completed by March 31, 2017, Vyas asked the Secretary Animal and Sheep Husbadry.
This is in pursuance to the instructions/decisions taken in the meeting of State Board for Wildlife held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on November 22, 2016.
